Legal nurse consultants assist the legal process by providing insight into medically related issues. This insight can help lawyers, paralegals, and legal assistants better understand the scope of damages in a legal matter, or remedies, in a legal matter involving the medical status, or health of a party in a lawsuit.
Unlike paralegal careers, legal nurse consulting does not require specific legal training. More important is a higher level of medical training, such as a bachelors degree in nursing, and good communication skills that tenable the consultant to communicate accurately to legal staff. This communication will include helping them understand the impact of medical issues on a case, devising of legal strategies based on those issues, and more.
